Turbine mixer
The liquid in the tank moves the blades of a special design. The rotational motion of the blades transfers a strong radial flow to the liquid, which, in turn, ensures the complete circulation of the entire volume of the component being mixed.
Turbine mixers have a very specific purpose:
- Dissolution of liquids that have the same or different densities into an emulsion; agitation of solid particles (amorphous or crystalline) with a large mass content (up to 80%).
- Suspension distribution of fibrous particles with a low mass content (up to 5%).
- Agitation of relatively large solid particles (up to 1.5 mm) in a significant concentration (up to 60%).
- Increasing the intensity of heat exchange and optimizing the temperature regime of the mixed liquid.
- Dissolution of gaseous substances in a liquid.

Design features of turbine mixers
An impeller of this type of mixer is a device that looks like a water turbine, equipped with a variety of blades, which are curved, straight, flat. As was said, MTO and MTZ are high-speed devices and perform the function of rapid mixing, which helps to increase the rate of mutual dissolution of the liquid components.
Also, mixers can be made on a frame with supports.
Turbine mixer of the open type
An open type mixer (MTO) is a disk on which the blades are fixed along the radius, fastening is performed either by a welded or bolted connection, in some cases, corners are used as fasteners. There are MTOs of different diameters from 80 to 1250mm.
The mixer with the presence of straight blades, which are located along the radius, is the simplest, but at the same time, the most effective among all others.
If the blades are flat, then they are tilted at a certain angle of 45 degrees to the plane of rotation of the apparatus. Thanks to such a mixer, suspensions can be easily mixed to lift solid particles from the bottom of the vessel. This is a consequence of the fact that the mixer can create an axial fluid flow, which makes it possible to get to the very day of the vessel. You can also find curved blades in the mixers, which consume much less power.
Because reagents are toxic and explosive, it was necessary to exclude the possibility of their leakage into the environment. To do this, it was necessary to install a double end seal. Turbine mixer of the closed type
Closed-type mixer (MTZ) is two fixed disks with blades mounted between them. The angle of the blades can vary from 45 to 90 degrees. They are designed to dissolve gaseous substances in the liquid, as well as to increase the intensity of heat exchange of the mixing process.
In some cases, it is advisable to combine closed-type mixers with a guide device. The latter is similar to a stationary mounted rim, the blades of which are specially bent. What does the guide device do? It can straighten the fluid flow thrown by the mixer.
The bending of the blades provides a given vector of motion of the fluid velocity when exiting the mixer. The guide device is fastened either to the body or to the fixed sleeve on which the shaft is fixed.
In terms of size, MTZ is from 300 to 1000 mm.
Scope of application of turbine mixers
The area of application of turbine mixers includes:
- the chemical industry, for quick mixing of liquids or stirring up insoluble precipitates, for creating various types of emulsions, etc.;
- the oil industry, as mixers for petroleum products;
- the pharmaceutical industry, for the manufacture of saline solutions and other multi-component drugs.

Turbine mixers are manufactured in three versions: with a worm gear motor (version A); with a coaxial-cylindrical gear motor (version B) and directly from the electric motor (version C).
