Paddle mixer

Paddle mixers relate to low-speed devices, where the mixing process is performed by two blades, the cross-section of which has a rectangular shape. If mixing is carried out in a container with a large height value, then the mixer blades can be installed on two or three levels. As a rule, a paddle mixer is widely used in the chemical industry, as well as in enterprises where they are necessary for the technological features of production.

Purpose of the paddle mixer

providing mutual dissolution of liquids;
creation of coarse emulsions;
obtaining suspended solids in liquids with a significant concentration of them (up to 90%);
obtaining a suspension of fibrous substances;
resuspension of sediment (light);
ensuring a low rate of dissolution of fibrous and crystalline substances;
optimization of the temperature regime of the liquid.

The design feature of paddle mixers

The working body of paddle mixers(impeller) is made in the form of rectangular blades. Our company manufactures blade agitators with three types of impellers: simple, with stiffeners and sheet.

Depending on the specifics of the products being mixed, the number of blades, their type and location on the shaft may vary: in addition to standard models, there are options for mixing low-or medium- viscosity liquids. Paddle mixers have a weak axial flow, which does not provide high-quality mixing of highly viscous liquids, therefore it is advisable to use other types of mixers for similar products — anchor, frame orturbine mixers are much better for these purposes. the diameter of the blades of the paddle agitator varies from 125 to 2240 mm.

Containers of increased dimensions also have additional requirements for the design of mixers. As their diameter increases, additional reinforcement measures are required. Reinforced blades have the same functions, but are a more rigid structure that is not subject to deformation when working even in a medium- viscous medium.

The device of the paddle mixer

Blade mixers are manufactured in two versions: with a worm gear motor (version A-Fig. on the left ) and with a coaxially cylindrical gear motor (version B- on the right).

Sheet mixer

If it is necessary to ensure high heat transfer with a calmer (quiet) mixing mode, then use the modification of the paddle impeller —sheet mixer. The blades of the sheet impeller are much wider than the blade. Holes are provided for the formation of jets.

The design provides two ways to attach the blades to the bushing:

Split method. The bushing consists of two parts and is assembled using a bolted connection before starting work. Blades are welded to each part of the bushing.
Permanent. The bushing is one -piece with welded blades.

Scope of application of blade (sheet) mixers

The blade (sheet) mixer, due to its simple design, is widely used in the chemical industry. It is necessary both for mixing liquid reagents, and when the mixing agent is gas or air, as well as the mixing of liquid and gas.

In addition to chemical production, blade mixers are used in:

the paint and varnish industry — for the production of paint compositions and colouristic;
oil — for mixing petroleum products;
pharmaceutical — to create various kinds of liquid drugs;
construction — for the manufacture of mortars and mixtures.
